Cantaloupe

Gala Bell is a London based multidisciplinary artist whose practice cultivates two strands of making - one honouring traditional craft, and the other seeking to disrupt it. Using unconventional materials and methods usually found in the kitchen, Gala transforms her studio into a lab of material experimentation, creating sculpture that is made of sugar or deep-fried, alongside paintings made with ground pigment and oils looking at a historical past. The two approaches interflow creating work that responds to present day experiences and intertwines with the history of art.
