Alexandra Errington - Artists - JB Art Gallery - An Online Contemporary Gallery.

Alexandra Errington b. 1997 is a Franco/British Visual Artist based in London. At the heart of Alexandra Errington's practice is a desire to animate our manufactured environment and explore the disregarded potential of domes- tic items. Through sculpture, she alters the natural order of synthetic objects and industrial waste, transforming them into enigmatic, organic compositions. Her operations are fuelled by a fascination for evolutionary biology, microbiol- ogy, and the organisation and reorganisation of living forms.

Errington, develops a speculative process of dissecting, bending and fusing structures, that hopes to mimic natural processes and bring intangible notions of growth and symbiosis to a more familiar scale. She searches for images that are liminal, intersections between the man made and the natural, an ethereal reality where the viewer can bounce be- tween meanings and scales. Alexandra's ambiguous configurations hope to activate our associative thinking, and allow us to visually explore how one form, as it were, can emerges from another.

SNIPPETS / VB SNIPPETS

These works were were created through a process called "Fiber print- ing" in which the artist manipulates and injects found objects, and other syn- thetic materials with ink, in order to create a sculptural transfer on canvas. Resembling cyanotype photograms, or giant microscopic slides, this series of paintings was inspires by scientific observation and the process of "speci- men staining" used to enhance and highlight elements of microscopic struc- tures.
